Karl Sim

Karl Feoder Sim, also known as CF Goldie (6 December 1923 – 21 October 2013) was a New Zealand art forger. He copied and sold paintings and drawings of such artists as Frances Hodgkins, Colin McCahon, and Charles F Goldie, in his antique and wine shop in Foxton. By signing the artist's name on the pictures, he sold them as original, genuine pieces of art. He was arrested in the 1980s and fined $1,000. Afterward he legally changed his name to Carl Feoder Goldie, so he could sign pictures as CF Goldie. But he then sold them as forgeries, instead of originals. He was named the 8th greatest art forger in the world in November 2007. He wrote a book in 2003, called Good As Goldie', later republished as 'C F Goldie and the Creative Art of Forgery.

He died on 21 October 2013 at North Shore Hospital, Auckland, New Zealand.[1]
