"Kanshō/Mermaid" is a double A-side single by Japanese pop singer Aya Ueto. It was released on August 27, 2003 as the second single from her second album Message and is her fifth single overall.
Background
"Kanshō/Mermaid" is Ueto's second double A-side single. "Kanshō" and "Mermaid" were both written and produced by Pipeline Project.[1] "Kanshō" served as theme song to the TV Asahi drama Hito-natsu no Papa e while "Mermaid" was used in commercials for Lotte's Soh.[1]
Chart performance
"Kanshō/Mermaid" peaked at #7 on the Oricon Daily Singles Chart and debuted at #9 on the Weekly Singles Chart with 26,699 copies sold. The single charted for a total of seven weeks and sold over 40,000 copies.[2][3][4]
Release and promotion
"Kizuna" was released in two formats: standard CD-only edition and limited edition, which comes in a sleeve case packaging and includes a release event ticket. Ueto held the event to commemorate the release of the single as well as her one-year anniversary.[5]
