Kannad is a city and a municipal council in Aurangabad district in the Indian state of Maharashtra. It is located 30 km away from the Ellora Caves and part of the Gautala Autramghat Sanctuary is located within its borders.

It has an average elevation of 633 metres (2076 feet).

As of 2001 of India census,^[1] Kannad had a population of 34,408. Males constitute 52% of the population and females 48%. Kannad has an average literacy rate of 69%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 76%, and female literacy is 61%. In Kannad, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.
