Kanaganakoppa is a small village in Chikkaballapur district of Karnataka, India, 73 km from Bangalore. The name Kanaganakoppa is derived from the words "Kanakana Koppa". Kanaka was a well-known Pharaoh who discovered the region on a river basin "Utthara pinakini". There is a legend that the so-called ruler hid all of his wealth in the form of gold in seven big jaggery-making bowls and placed in a well atop a mountain. It is also believed that all the treasure belongs to the ruler's son, as he was born in same village. After brought up to an age of 16, he left the place. At the age of 25 he came back and took the treasure and all the control over the place, a village consisting of more than 300 houses, whose main source of income is agriculture and sericulture.
