Kameshkovo (Russian: Камешково) is a town and the administrative center of Kameshkovsky District of Vladimir Oblast, Russia, located 41 kilometers (25 mi) northeast of Vladimir, the administrative center of the oblast. Population: 13,103 (2010 Census);[4] 14,161 (2002 Census);[6] 15,061 (1989 Census).[7]

History

It was founded in the beginning of the 20th century as a settlement around a spinning-and-weaving factory. It was granted town status in 1951.

Administrative and municipal status

Within the framework of administrative divisions, Kameshkovo serves as the administrative center of Kameshkovsky District,[2] to which it is directly subordinated.[1] As a municipal division, the town of Kameshkovo is incorporated within Kameshkovsky Municipal District as Kameshkovo Urban Settlement.[3]

Transportation

There is a railway station in the town.
