Kamen Rider: Battride War

Kamen Rider: Battride War (仮面ライダー バトライド・ウォー Kamen Raidā Batoraido Wō) is a video game based on the Kamen Rider Series, released for the PlayStation 3 on May 23, 2013.[1] Done in the style of Dynasty Warriors, the player controls one of the Kamen Riders as he battles through a series of enemies. The game mainly features the protagonists of the Heisei era of Kamen Rider, starting with 2000's Kamen Rider Kuuga and featuring up to 2013's Kamen Rider Wizard. Showa-era Kamen Riders may only be released as downloadable content,[1][2][3] as will some characters' forms such as Kamen Rider Wizard's Infinity Style and All Dragon forms and Kamen Rider Beast's Beast Hyper form.[4] A limited edition of the game was released that has a soundtrack that includes the original theme songs from the TV series and films.

The game's story mode known as "Chronicle Mode" ultimately pits the Kamen Riders against their mortal enemies in a final showdown.[5][6]

The game's theme song is "Go get 'em" by the Kamen Rider Girls.[7][8] The physical release of the single included a DLC code to access the Kamen Rider Wizard's All Dragon Figure in game.[4]

Kamen Rider: Battride War II

In February 2014 it was announced that a sequel titled Kamen Rider: Battride War II will be released on June 26, 2014, and it will feature characters from the most recent TV series Kamen Rider Gaim as well as story scenarios based on films, including Movie Wars series. As with the original version, a limited edition with the theme songs from the TV series and films will also be released. In addition to the PlayStation 3, Battride War II will be released on the Wii U. The Kamen Rider Girls will again provide the theme song, which this time around will be "Break the shell".[9]

Mitsuru Matsuoka of SOPHIA who portrayed Katsumi Daido/Kamen Rider Eternal in Kamen Rider W Forever: A to Z/The Gaia Memories of Fate and the Kamen Rider W Returns films will reprise his role as the character in the game.[10] Kento Handa who portrayed Takumi Inui/Kamen Rider Faiz will reprise his role as the character from the television series, which he did not do for the original game.[11] Ken Matsudaira, who portrayed the historical figure Tokugawa Yoshimune in the film Kamen Rider OOO Wonderful: The Shogun and the 21 Core Medals, will reprise his role in the game, but as a playable character, riding on horseback rather than motorcycle.[12] Musashi who portrayed Issei Kurosaki/Kamen Rider Caucasus in Kamen Rider Kabuto: God Speed Love, and Hiroyuki Watanabe, Kamen Rider Gaoh in Kamen Rider Den-O: I'm Born!, reprise their roles as well.[13]

In a more recent trailer, the non-player characters describing the story have been changed to brother and sister Reito (レイト) and Reina (レイナ) who lead the player characters in combatting the villain Cinema (シネマ Shinema). In addition, players now have the option to set customized playlists, including the extensive playlist provided by the Premium TV & Movie Sound Edition of the game, as well as their own songs on the PlayStation 3 and Wii U systems, set for particular characters and their forms.[14]

A series of download content campaigns will also be featured, adding new playable characters to the Battride War II roster. The first of these is for Kamen Rider Zangetsu Shin on July 10, followed by Kamen Rider Gaim Kiwami Arms on July 24.
