Kalyanam Mudhal Kadhal Varai ( is a Tamil soap opera on STAR Vijay. The show is set to launch on November 3, 2014.[1] Its initial concept is an adaptation from North Indian Hindi serial Ye Hai Mohabbatein. It is partially based on Manju Kapur's novel Custody.[2][3][4]
Plot
Kalyanam Mudhal Kadhal Varai follows the story of Arjun (Amit Bhargav) and Priya (Priya Bhavani Shankar) who are connected by their common love for Arjun's little daughter Pooja.
Priya is a Malayali whereas Arjun is a Tamilian. Meanwhile, being neighbours Priya and Arjun families meetings always ends up in fights. Priya, who is unable to bear children, shares a very close, motherly relationship with Pooja, while filling the void of a child in her own. She has been rejected by many marriage alliances because she is barren. She is friendly, warm and caring while Arjun is bitter and hard from the days of his divorce. Jai, the colleague of Arjun whom he considered as his brother, and Vaishu, Priya's cousin, were in love but their engagement has been called off after a fight between the two families. At the same time, Manoj who has a crush on Vaishu plots against Jai.
Swaminathan and Unnikrishnan wants Arjun and Priya to get married for the sake of Pooja. Vandhana and Ashok try to take the rights over Pooja. Priya and Arjun didn't agree for the marriage at the beginning and slowly changed their minds for Pooja. After many events,Priya and Arjun are now married and try to get the custody of Pooja. But, in the final court hearing Pooja says that she wants to live with her mother, Vandhana. It is then revealed by the judge that Ashok threatened Pooja saying that Priya will leave her. Finally, the court gives Pooja's custody to Arjun and Priya. To take revenge for his failure, Ashok makes Arjun believe that Pooja is his daughter. Therefore, Arjun starts hating Pooja. Conflict starts to happen in Arjun' home as he has started to hate Pooja. Priya comes to know about his hate on pooja and decides to solve the problem using DNA test and clarifies his doubt about pooja birth.
