Kalimpong I (community development block) is an administrative division in Kalimpong subdivision of Darjeeling district in the Indian state of West Bengal. Kalimpong police station serves this block. Headquarters of this block is at Kalimpong. Kalimpong–I block consists of rural areas with 18 gram panchayats, viz. Bong, Kalimpong, Samalbong, Tista, Dr. Grahams Homes, Lower Echhay, Samthar, Neembong, Dungra, Upper Echhay, Seokbir, Bhalukhop, Yangmakum, Pabringtar, Sindepong, Kafer Kanke Bong, Pudung and Tashiding.[1] This block has one police station at Kalimpong.[2] Headquarters of this block is in Kalimpong.[3] This block has no block officer since 2012. Current additional block development officer is Sri Sashwata Bhowmik[1][2]

Demographics

As per 2001 census, Kalimpong I block had a total population of 67,672, out of which 34,344 were males and 33,328 were females. Kalimpong I block registered a population growth of 26.16 per cent during the 1991-2001 decade. Decadal growth for the district was 16.94 per cent.[2] Decadal growth in West Bengal was 17.84 per cent.[3]
