Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan

MTV Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan is loosely based on the Korean drama, Boys Over Flowers which in turn is an adaptation of the Japanese shōjo manga series of the same name. The television series premiered on 21 July 2014 on MTV India. MTV Kaisi Yeh Yaariaan is about a successful music band Fab 5 at S.P.A.C.E academy and two new girls and how they tackle the situations that Fab 5 creates for them. The story main centralizes on the intense love story of Manik and Nandini. This show is rated number one youth show and has received international appreciation. It has consistently been rated number one on chaska meter at Indian forums social network. This show has been declared a runaway hit show.

Plot

The core of the show lies in highlighting the importance of friendship along with other relationships be it romance, or familial relations. There lies an underlying mystery to the plot which binds the parallel story lines together.The show has gained immense popularity and has been considered a rage among youngsters.

The story starts with Nandini Murthy (Niti Taylor) at her hometown, Mangalore, ready to move in with her Chacha and Chachi in Mumbai, in order to help treatment of her younger brother, Rishab and for her to study in reputed colleges in Mumbai. She believes her fireflies only light up when there is true love. She accidentally interacts with Manik Malhotra (Parth Samthaan), and unknown to Manik, he saves her jar filled with her fireflies and they light up when they both touch the jar at the same time. It is then believed that there is true love between Manik and Nandini, and the audience are excited to see how their love story unfolds.

Nandini Murthy (Niti Taylor) and her friend Navya Naveli (Veebha Anand), team up to save a boy at S.P.A.C.E from committing suicide. This leads them to become the new targets of Academy's famous band "Fab5", a group of rich spoiled kids - Manik Malhotra, the leader (Parth Samthaan), Cabir (Ayaz Ahmed), Mukti (Charlie Chauhan), Alya (Krissann Barretto) and Dhruv (Utkarsh Gupta). After they saved a boy at S.P.A.C.E. Academy from committing suicide on their first day of college, they're offered full scholarships there by Nyonika Malhotra (Kishwar Merchant), Manik's mom, in order to save the college's reputation. But this didn't stop them from being targets of FAB 5. Nandini becomes the main target of Manik Malhotra but their fights leads to their attraction for each other. It is also revealed in the show that Manik, Dhruv and Harshad Abhishek Malik use to be the "Band of Brothers" from the age of ten. Harshad is Alya's brother and was introduced in this show as saving Rishabh's life, much to FAB 5 and especially Manik's dismay.

The show explores the stories of each character and their relationships, especially which center's around the main intense love story of Manik Malhotra and Nandini Murthy, Harshad's blossoming attraction for Navya, the attraction between Dhruv and Alya, how Mukti broke down from losing her first love, Harshad and survives, and how Cabir deals with his homosexuality. Among all this is the mysterious illness of Nandini's brother, Rishab and Dhruv, whom only Nandini and Manik can calm down when the two of them have their attacks respectively. Manik also has a hate relationship with his mother, which has a great impact on the foundation of FAB 5, and when his mother finds out about his relationship with Nandini, she leaves no boundaries in creating trouble in their love life. But ultimately they are together and the Fusion Concert marks a new beginning for them, where they both sing together successfully as per the condition laid by Manik earlier. They confess their love for one another and Nandini tells finally tells Manik about the fireflies. In addition, Nyonika and Harshad share a past which is believed to have ripped Manik and Harshad's friendship.

• Krissann Barretto as Alya Saxena - this hot and pretty girl of S.P.A.C.E., who was the girlfriend of Manik, ends up falling for Dhruv.
• Charlie Chauhan as Mukti Vardhan - this sexy but angry broken girl, betrayed from her first love, Harshad, falls for Abhimanyu who leaves a big impact in her life. She is like a sister to Manik.
• Abhishek Malik as Harshad Saxena - Alya's brother, the hunky dude of S.P.A.C.E. and the one who broke hearts of Mukti and Navya. He hates Manik to the core.

Review

Parth Samthaan and Niti Taylor's perfect chemistry, dialogue delivery, perfect expression on aggression, frustration and love has been mesmerized and made a special place in the hearts of their fans. Their onscreen pairing is known as Manan on social networking sites with their electrifying chemistry.^[1] Parth's and Niti's onscreen couple has become one of the most popular TV couple. Their passionate hugs and eye lock are enough to attract people. They are the lead couple of this show .^{[2] [3]} Parth Samthaan and Niti Taylor have hosted together for a Saas Bahu Betiyaan show on Aaj Tak on valentine's special (2015) as Manik and Nandini.

Ayaz Ahmed and Parth Samthaan onscreen friendship as been praised by the audience. Their equation has been given ManBir and fans love how both share things on equal footing. They were partner in crime when targeting victims in SPACE and ended up becoming each other's confidant when their lives started to get messed up. As well as this, it was a joy to watch Cabir play cupid to MaNan as he was the first to find out about them, and collectively, Manik, Nandini (Niti Taylor) and Cabir are known as MaNanBir. Viewers always appreciate MaNanbir in the same screen, as these fabulous actors breathe life into their characters. Ayaz Ahmed and Niti Taylor share an amazing screen presence together and the audience get the brother-sisterly vibe from them.

Abhishek Malik and Parth Samthaan share an amazing screen presence when they come in front of each other. Maniks "Harshad Harshad Harshad" is thrilling to watch and both give great preformances against eachother. They are known as ManShad. As well as that, Abhishek share a nice onscreen brother-sisterly bond with krissann.

Ayaz Ahmed and Veebha Anand are appreciated as Cavya, as they provide comic relief to audience, with Cabir's dry humour and Navya's consistently barging in on him and his life. Together, they are known as the stress buster to the show. Veebha Anand and Niti Taylor's onscreen friendship is appreciated and humorous as Navya's plans to try to help Nandini always seems to land her in trouble!! That are known as NavNi.

Krissann and Utkarsh have made a great impact in this show, being their first ever serial. The built up to their relationship has been appreciated by the audience and how their past effects their current relationship is nicely explored. They are the parallel love story to MaNan being the main one and are known as Dhrulya. Krissann and Utkarsh share a cute chemistry onscreen.

Charlie Chauhan plays a difficult role of an angry girl, Mukti but has moments of showing a large heart. To demonstrate a victim of anti-depressant and then undergoing major rehab was a first to be shown on Indian TV and Charlie did a nice job of learning how to cope from a bad relationship. Her onscreen friendship with Alya (Krissann) is loved by the audience.

Kishwar Merchant playing Nyonika Malhotra is thoroughly loved by the audience. She can act so mean and yet be loved by the audience is an achievement in itself. It is refreshing to see a mother on Indian TV playing games with her son, Manik (Parth Samthaan). Both Kishwar and Parth share such amazing screen presence, their retorts to each other onscreen gives a different feel to this unique Mother-son relationship.
