The Kabataş-Taksim Funicular, or (Turkish: F1 Taksim - Kabataş Füniküler Hattı) is a two-station underground railway line in Istanbul, Turkey. The funicular connects the hubs at Taksim Square and Kabataş, Istanbul.[1]
Overview
Opened on June 29, 2006, the funicular is operated by İstanbul Ulaşım company, a subsidiary of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. The ride on the 594 m (1,949 ft) line takes 2.5 minutes. The daily ridership is 30,000 passengers between the operating hours from 6:15 to 0:00. Daily number of trips is 195, with a headway of 3 minutes during peak hours.[1]
The funicular serves at Taksim Square the metro line M2 Yenikapı-Hacıosman, the nostalgic tram T5 Taksim-Tünel and at Kabataş the tram T1 Kabataş-Bağcılar and the city boat lines Kabataş-Kadıköy-Bostancı-Prince's Islands, as well as city busses at both terminals.[1]
