History

KZOK signed on in 1964 as KTW-FM and simulcasted KTW-AM (now KKDZ). The station's formats in their early years included top 40 for 9 months, then a country format they called "The Nashville Sound", talk radio (1965–1971), religious (1971–1974), progressive rock (1974–1975; 1974 was when they picked up the KZOK calls), AOR (1975–1985), and mellow rock/AAA (1985-1986); the current format debuted in December 1986. They are one of three classic rock/hits outlets targeting the Puget Sound region, with Bellingham's KISM-FM and Seattle's KJR-FM being the other two.

The station's current on-air lineup includes many Seattle personalities who have been on various rock radio stations in previous years.
