KXXY-FM
KXXY-FM (96.1 FM, "96.1 KXY") is a country music formatted radio station serving the Oklahoma City area and is owned by iHeartMedia, Inc.. KXY is also the flagship station of the Oklahoma City Barons hockey team. Its transmitter is located in Northeast Oklahoma City, and studios are located at the 50 Penn Place building on the Northwest side.
History
The first known format of then KOCY-FM was rock music and the station was known as "96X." The station later changed its calls in 1973 to KXXY-FM and was also known as "96 Rock." The station changed formats to country in the 1980s. A simulcast was carried on AM 1340 KXXY-AM (now KEBC) for a short time as well.
