KISKA company building

KISKA was established in 1990 by Gerald Kiska as a one-man-business in Salzburg, Austria and is Austria’s largest independent design company[1]

As a consultancy, KISKA works with its clients to create designs that reinforce brands. The company’s services include consulting, design and communication.[2] Clients include Atomic, Bajaj, Siemens, Hilti, Kettler, KTM, AKG Acoustics, Osram, Swarovski Optik.[3] Most designs are made for the consumer goods market, industrial goods market and the automotive industry.

The company’s USP lies in the creation of design solutions on the basis of brand and design. The designers create consistent brand appearances for clients.

History

The company was founded in 1990 as a one-man-business and grew in 20 years to the biggest design company in Austria. KISKA has a global portfolio of clients and is planning on expanding internationally to the USA and China.[4] The company is headquartered in Salzburg.

First focused on Product Design, the scope of duties has grown to include strategy and brand services. The breakthrough was in 2007 with the design of the KTM X-Bow, the first car of the motorcycle producer KTM.[5] For the design KISKA received the IF (International Forum Design Award) in 2009.[6]

Transportation Design

Since 1992, KISKA has been doing all vehicle designs for KTM.[7] The most prestigious project was the KTM X-Bow, an ultra-light sports car for road and race use.

The department is a multinational team of 20 people from designer to model makers, who work together on different two and four-wheel projects, including styling, design development, modelling, consulting, conceptioning, engineering and Colour, Trim & Graphics. The 1,000 square meter studio facilitates the simultaneous development of three motorcycles and three automobiles from the concept sketch phase to complete prototypes. The facility's fully automated milling machine can produce a 1:1 automobile model in less than 2 days.[8]
