KBSZ (1260 AM; "Funny 1260am") is a radio station broadcasting a Stand-up comedy format. Licensed to Apache Junction, Arizona, USA, the station is currently owned by 1TV.com.[1]

In 2012 KBSZ was issued an FCC construction permit to increase day power to 4,500 watts. It uses an extremely short (85 foot) lower efficiency fiberglass whip antenna.

History

The station went on the air in Wickenburg, Arizona as KUUK at 1250 kHz on 1981-03-11. On 1987-01-01, the station changed its call sign to KCIW. On 1989-07-18 to KTIM. On 1996-03-01 to the current KBSZ.[2]

In May, 2010, KBSZ moved its transmitter from Wickenburg (about 60 miles northwest of Downtown Phoenix) to Apache Junction (35 miles east of Downtown Phoenix), and moved to 1260 kHz on the AM dial, with a Classic Hits/Oldies format targeting the residents of Apache Junction.[3] After only four months, the station adopted the a talk format on September 7, before switching to the current all comedy format.[4]

When 24/7 Comedy ceased operations, they were looking forward to keeping their Comedy format, so they have switched to programing, via "Today's Comedy."
