KAWL (1370 AM) is a radio station which signed on September 18, 1954 within the city limits of York, Nebraska. Brothers Mel and Tom Gleason were co-owners of Prairie States Broadcasting, Inc. This station remained in the Gleason family until its sale in 2004 to Mark Jensen President of MWB Broadcasting LLC one of the few longest-held family-owned broadcast properties ever in Nebraska.
History
Prairie States Broadcasting
- increased KTMX FM's effective radiated power from 3,000 to 13,000 watts.
- built a 1,000-foot (300 m) FM radio tower for KTMX.
- Ownership changed to MWB Broadcasting LLC, December 2004
- Many Improvements have been made to the facility under the new ownership with a complete remodel of the studios and offices, upgrades in equipment, the hiring of more employees plus the launch of a new web site at www.kawlam.com.
