Juying Secondary School (Abbreviation: JYSS) is a government co-educational neighbourhood secondary school in Jurong West, Singapore. The school was established in December 1995.

History

Juying Secondary School was formed in December 1995 with Mrs Lee Yin Ling being appointed as its first principal. The school started with 10 classes of Secondary One pupils which were housed on the 4th level of Pioneer Secondary School, our holding school, for six months while the former Jurong Institute was being retrofitted to become Juying's permanent premises. Today, the school has a total enrolment of 1107 pupils in 27 classes covering Secondary 1 to Secondary 5. The strength of the staff has grown from 12 teachers in 1995 to 57 teachers in 2006, [excluding the principal and vice principal].

When the school moved into its permanent premises on 12 June 1995, only three quarters of the retrofitting had been completed. The following two and a half years saw the continual upgrading and improvement of facilities. In June 1997, an extension project was started to enable the school to become single session in the year 2000. Two new blocks, one of 14 classrooms and another for the implementation of the IT Master Plan, are under construction at present.

The school was officially opened by Mr Peter Chen, Senior Minister of State for Education and MP for Hong Kah GRC, on 18 July 1997.
