Justin Blanchard is a Broadway and Off-Broadway theatre, film, and television actor. He is a member of Actors' Equity Association.
Education
Blanchard was born and raised in South Texas and attended Texas Military Institute. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in acting from New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he studied in the CAP21 musical theater studio, the Experimental Theatre Wing and the Stonestreet Film and Television Studio.
He received his Master of Fine Arts degree in acting from the Brown University/Trinity Repertory Company Consortium and was featured in numerous plays at Trinity Rep. At the Brown/Trinity Playwrights Rep, Blanchard was featured in the original cast of Stephen Karam's Speech & Debate, which went on to become one of the "top ten most produced plays of 2009-2010" (Theatre Communications Group).
Career
Justin Blanchard has appeared on Broadway, Off-Broadway, film and television. Blanchard made his professional debut on Broadway as Hibbert in Journey's End. Journey's End received the 2007 Tony Award, Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, Drama League Award and a special citation from the New York Drama Critics Circle all for "Best Revival of a Play." Recent theatrical credits include playing Jesus in the East Coast premiere of Lloyd Suh's Jesus In India, Iachimo in Fiasco Theater's Cymbeline, Willoughby in Sense & Sensibility at the Actors Theatre of Louisville and Iago in Othello at the Shakespeare Festival of St. Louis. Justin also starred opposite Antonio Banderas in the pre-Broadway workshop of Zorba.
In television and film, Blanchard has guest starred on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and the PBS special The Mystery of Matter: Marie Curie. Other television appearances include All My Children, Guiding Light, and One Life to Live. He has been featured in commercials for Oscar De La Renta (w/ Rooney Mara, Dir.: David Fincher) and the MTV: Safe Sex campaign. He has appeared in independent films including The Middleman (Dir.: by Heath Cullens), Over There (Dir.: Mark Parees), and Alyssa & Sara (Dir.: Josh Wick). Justin is also a voice-over actor and is credited with recording the audiobooks for Romeo and Juliet and A Midsummer Night's Dream.
Blanchard is a member of Partial Comfort Productions, a Manhattan based theater company showcasing new plays, and The 52nd Street Project, which matches inner city kids with professional theatre artists to create original theatre in New York City. He is also the founder of Brooklyn Shakes, a collaborative arts project in Brooklyn, NY.
