Background
Düsseldorf-based rapper Farid Bang explained after the release of his debut album Asphalt Massaka, in 2008, that he won't record an album in 2009. As well Kollegah confirmed to not record for his own.
Later, many rumors leaked on the internet that both rappers had teamed up to record an album together. Following these rumors Farid Bang appealed to Kollegah the idee. Then both rappers started to work on their album, in spite of their statements to not record in 2009.[1]
Farid Bang was also featured on the Selfmade Records album Chronik 2 on the track "Westdeutschlands Kings", with Kollegah and Favorite
It took three months to finish the album.[2]
Singer Billy13 was the only guest appearance on the album, that had been involved in the production. She got involved because of her good relationship to Farid Bang. She sings the hookline of "Butterfly". Billy13 is also known for having worked with Bushido.[3]
Jung, brutal, gutaussehend released as Standard and as "Steelbox Edition". The latter was limited to 1500 copies, and can only be purchased through the mail-Amazon. The box features the album, a T-shirt signed by Kollegah and Farid Bang, a poster and a bonus CD with a new song, titled "Miami Vice".[4]
Critique
In a review by Max Brandl for the E-Zine Laut.de was young, brutal, good-looking two out of five possible evaluation points and was considered so much worse than previous solo albums Kollegahs Alphagene and Kollegah. Compared to these are his contributions to the Kollaboalbum "nearly disastrous". The background music for the title, except for the beats to black money, Midnight and The toughest in the country, rated negatively. Overall, the cooperation of Farid Bang Kollegah functioned poorly: "Not that that would steal the show two alternately - unfortunately no. Both lose their respective strengths" Furthermore criticized Brandl, Kollegahs arrogant lecture soft gradually bored fatigue. Farid Bang would like irritate and embarrassing, as it many German rappers, most notably Samy Deluxe attacks, by name. Despite all the negative criticisms about Kollegah show in titles like Banger or The Boss and toughest in the country that he remains one of the best rappers in Germany, and that both Farid Bang for the publication of a Kollegah 2010 solo album would make more sense [5]
The editors of the website Rap.de noted that the low richness of variety of young, brutal, good-looking can also be viewed positively because it could just as well as a "compromise", and thus describe the modern contradictory. It should be mentioned the title Boss and Banger and sun bed pimps because the two musicians in the rap "Double Time", that is, at double speed. Both the title Alphamassaka, bottles and at the bouncer Crime Time, and the contribution of Billy13, whose voice did not fit into the context of the album will be judged negatively by the editors. Farid Bang sounds, in terms of its "flow and comparisons," strong on the publication by Kollegah. Kollegah rap Although successful, entertaining verses, but could the high level of his previous albums do not achieve [6]
Three out of five rating points were possible from the hip-hop magazine Backspin awarded to the collabo album. With the low thematic variety to meet the two rappers' expectations that they had made prior to the publication. Farid Bang Kollegah and make it "to maintain a high level" in spite of a few content. This is attributed to the backspin on the humorous comparisons. When the three best pieces, the magazine, the title Gangbanger, The toughest in the country and young, brutal, good-looking on. Finally, it is explained in the criticism, the audience should not take the album title too seriously [7]
Received a good review of the record by the editors of the magazine Juice. The album compatible the "best of both worlds under." Especially praised Kollegahs verse in the title of Gangbanger that is so technically advanced, as it did in the German rap rarity value. What turns more negative, however, are opinions by Farid Bang's verse with double-time, the host of contributions and the variety Billy13 poor arrangements. In summary, the album is, however, "one of the best albums in the first German rap-half of 2009." The editor connects to a score of four and a half of the possible six "crowns." [8]
