"Jumpin', Jumpin'" is a song by American girl group Destiny's Child. Written by band member Beyoncé along with Rufus Moore and Chad Elliott, and produced by Beyoncé, Elliott and Jovonn Alexander, it was released as the fourth and final single from the group's second studio album, The Writing's on the Wall (1999).

The song was listed at 232 on Pitchfork Media's Top 500 songs of the 2000s. This single also features the vocals of former band members Letoya Luckett, and Latavia Roberson, although absent from this video as well as the music video for "Say My Name".

Chart performances

In the United Kingdom "Jumpin', Jumpin'" was a top five hit and sold over 195,000 copies. It also achieved success when it charted at number two on the Australian Singles Chart. In the Netherlands "Jumpin', Jumpin'" peaked at number 10 on the Mega Single Top 100 remaining in total 14 weeks on the charts. "Jumpin', Jumpin'" peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 for several weeks, becoming Destiny's Child fourth Top 10 pop and R&B hit. The song peaked at number one on the Hot 100 Airplay for seven consecutive weeks becoming one of the biggest radio hits of 2000 and the group's second longest run atop the chart behind "Independent Women Part 1" which reigned for nine consecutive weeks.

Following the success of "Jumpin', Jumpin'" The Writing's on the Wall was certified six-times platinum by the RIAA in September 2000. Worldwide the album had already sold a massive nine million copies, after just over a year on the charts.

Music video

The video starts at Destiny's Child's home, where the band members are preparing themselves for the night out. They get in a car, drive to their destination and compete with boys in a car race. In the club they sing and dance on stage. The camera moves as though it is jumping.

This was the final music video to feature Farrah Franklin. The original music video was never released to a video compilation nor to an enhanced CD, whereas the "So So Def Remix" is available on the video compilation The Platinum's on the Wall.

Formats and remixes

Two official urban remixes for this song exist. One, known as the Nitro remix features rapper Nitro, while the other is known as the So So Def Remix with Lil' Bow Wow, Da Brat, and Jermaine Dupri. A video was filmed for the So So Def Remix later.

The "Azza's Remix" of "Jumpin', Jumpin'" contains newly recorded vocals with slower singing, additional ad-libs by Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland doing lead on chorus and high notes during break. The vocals were recorded in a session with DJ Maurice Joshua, who used the vocals also for his dance remixes of the song. These two remixes are the only songs from The Writing's on the Wall that feature Farrah Franklin and Michelle Williams. With the other one being the WNBA version that was made to promote the 2000 WNBA All-Star Game.[1]

One specific production of "Jumpin', Jumpin'" (at the request of then Sony A&R, Darren Dixon) was unofficially promo released via FONKED, (remixed by O. D. Hunte) feat. DeMarvlest.[2]

A modified version of the song was played on Radio Disney during its popularity in order to be age appropriate for the station's audience.[3]

Jamaican dancehall singer Ce'Cile sampled "Jumpin', Jumpin'" in the song "Ladies Anthem".

The song was covered by actors Jenna Ushkowitz, Darren Criss, and Chord Overstreet (as their characters Tina Cohen-Chang, Blaine Anderson, and Sam Evans, respectively) on the FOX television series Glee, in the season five episode "Trio".
