Julián Gil (born Julián Elías Gil Beltrán on June 13, 1970 in Buenos Aires, Argentina) is an Argentine-born Puerto Rican actor, model, and entertainer. He is based in Miami, Florida.

Biography

Although Julián Gil was born in Argentina, he lived some time in Venezuela as well. He grew up in Puerto Rico and considers himself as Puerto Rican. He has two sisters. At the beginning of the nineties, he went into modeling. He walked catwalks all over Latin America and appeared in major magazines. This gave him the opportunity to expand his career into acting. He started acting in theater, film and television in Puerto Rico. In 1995 in Puerto Rico, he acted in several plays such as The Crime of Father Amaro, Sex, shame and tears and Nine ½ Weeks, among others.

Acting career

At the age of 20 years, he began his career in television with his own shows Julián por la noche and Apartamento 52, where he was the principal conductor of both television shows. Over the years he has worked for television networks such as RCTV, Telemundo, Univisión and Televisa. From 2001 to 2006 he participated in several films such as Marina, Más allá del límite, Fuego en el alma, El milagro de Coromoto and La caja de problemas, films produced for television.[1]

In 2006 he participated in the Venezuelan telenovela Por todo lo alto, where he interpreted the character "Halcón", which helped to internationalize.[2] The following year he joined the cast of the telenovela produced by Venevisión and Univisión entitled Acorralada, where he played Pancholón.[3] From 2007 until 2011 Gil was part of the jury Nuestra Belleza Latina, where he shared credits with Osmel Sousa.[4] In 2008 he participated in Valeria, at the same time he obtained his first antagonist role on television in the telenovela Amor comprado where he played Esteban Rondero.[5] Then he participated in the television series Gabriel, along with Chayanne. In 2008 he obtained his first starring role in the telenovela Los Barriga. He starred beside the actress Claudia Bérninzon.[6]

In 2009 he participated in the telenovela Sortilegio, along with David Zepeda. In the same year he became the protagonist of the Argentine series Valientes. That year he won the Califa de Oro Award for Best Actor[7][8]

Personal life

He was married to Brenda Torres. He has two children: a daughter Nicolle (born 1987) and a son Julián Jr. (born 1995).

As of 2012 Julian is dating Viviana Serna - an actress, who played his daughter in the telenovela ¿Quién eres tú?.
