Journey into Narnia: Creating The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

The only character who appears off-screen in the show is Jadis, the White Witch.

Journey into Narnia: Creating the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is a theme park show which operated at Disney's Hollywood Studios from December 9, 2005 - January 1, 2008. It was a stand and watch event, including the White Witch and an exit area containing several costumes from the film.

Visitors to the Journey into Narnia show at Disney's Hollywood Studios park are led into an antechamber with a Wardrobe prop "entrance". The audience is then led through the wardrobe doors into a large room adorned with flocked pine trees, a lamppost, a large tree illuminated with fiber optics, and a large (150") projection television screen. The screen displays a greatly abridged version of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

At a key point in the summarized version of the film, the White Witch appears on a terrace above the crowd and reads a few lines from the film. The abbreviated version of the film then continues on the screen, leading into a short preview of The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, the second Narnia movie, released in 2008. None of the material shown on-screen is exclusive — it can all be found on the existing DVD of the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe and previews of Prince Caspian available online.

After standing and watching this for approximately 10–15 minutes, the audience is then released into a hallway with several costumes from the film before exiting to the outside.

Update

This attraction closed permanently on January 2, 2008 so it could be converted into the new attraction, "Journey into Narnia: Prince Caspian", which officially opened on June 27, 2008. It is scheduled to remain until the third film in the series, "Journey into Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader", is released in May 2010. It has since been replaced by "The Legend of Jack Sparrow".

History

In 2003, this area was used to house The Making of The Haunted Mansion Movie attraction. Before that, the building (Soundstage 4) housed set from the live-action version of 101 Dalmatians from 1996 - 2002.
