The Journal of Management Studies is a peer-reviewed academic journal that was established in 1963 and is published by Wiley-Blackwell on behalf of The Society for the Advancement of Management Studies.[1] The journal publishes both conceptual and empirical papers in the field of management. Specific areas of focus include, organizational theory and behavior, strategic management, human resource management, and cross-cultural comparisons of organizational effectiveness. The current editors-in-chief are Garry Bruton (Texas Christian University), Dries Faems (University of Groningen), and Bill Harley (University of Melbourne).

Abstracting and Indexing

The Journal of Management Studies is abstracted and indexed in the Social Sciences Citation Index, Scopus, ProQuest, EBSCO, Cambridge Scientific Abstracts, Research Papers in Economics, and Emerald Management Reviews.[2] According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal's 2012 impact factor is 3.799, which ranks it 12th out of 172 journals in the category "Management" and 6th out of 116 in the category "Business".[3] The journal was also rated as an "A*" publication in the "Business and Management" category of both the Australia Business Deans Council[4] and the Excellence in Research for Australia journal rankings.

Grigor McClelland Dissertation Award

In 2011 the Journal of Management Studies launched the annual Grigor McClelland Dissertation Award, named after the journal's founding editor. The prize recognises authors who have published particularly innovative management scholarship in their PhD thesis. The winning author receives £5,000, with prizes of £1,000 given to the runners up. The award is sponsored by the Society for the Advancement of Management Studies, and presented at the annual conference of the European Group for Organizational Studies.[5][6]
