Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis

The Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis (JABA) was established in 1968 as a peer-reviewed, psychology journal, that publishes research about applications of the experimental analysis of behavior to problems of social importance.

The journal was created at the University of Kansas by a group including Donald Baer, Sidney W. Bijou, Todd Risley, James Sherman, and Montrose Wolf.[1][2]

The journal is indexed in, among others, PubMed PsycINFO, and Web of Science.[3] It is published quarterly by the Society for the Experimental Analysis of Behavior (SEAB). It typically publishes 80-90 articles per year. Its ISSN is 0021-8855. The current editor of JABA is Timothy R. Vollmer, University of Florida. The most recently released issue is Fall 2014 Volume 47, Issue 3.[4] As of 2014, its impact factor is 1.087.[5] SEAB also publishes the Journal of the Experimental Analysis of Behavior, which commenced publication in 1958.

Up until 2013, JABA was a delayed open access journal: all issues from 1968 onwards, except the most recent three, were available free from PubMed Central.[6] JABA is now published by Wiley-Blackwell, and is only available to subscribers.[7] However, articles up to and including the year 2012 are still available on PubMed Central.[8]

Since 2009, JABA has experienced a decreasing trend in its impact factor from a high of 1.496 in 2009 to a low of 0.762 in 2012.[9] In addition, the journal has seen a restriction of its content to largely developmental disabilities.[10]
