Joshua tree woodland

Joshua tree woodland is a vegetation type occurring only in the Mojave Desert, characterized by dominant species including the Joshua Tree (Yucca brevifolia) and its associates. Associates include Mojave yucca (Yucca schidigera), paper-bag bush (Scutellaria mexicana), box thorn (Lycium andersonii, Lycium cooperi), sages (Salvia dorrii, Salvia mojavensis), and buckwheat ( Eriogonum spp.). It occurs between 2,500 and 4,500 feet (760 and 1,370 m) elevation in areas that receive between 6 and 15 inches of annual precipitation. It generally defines the outline of the Mojave Desert.[1]
