Career highlights

Josh Toy is a professional Australian rules football player with Essendon (VFL). Toy, a medium defender, debuted with the Gold Coast Football Club. He was one of the club's underage recruits, and played in the Gold Coast's first season, in 2011. Toy was a part of Gold Coast's inaugural team in Round 2, against Carlton, where he was utilized as a substitute player. He played 11 games in Gold Coast's inaugural 2011 season (averaging 12 disposals per game) and a further 5 in 2012 (average 4 disposals). During his time with the Suns, Toy was diagnosed with a heart condition (congenital heart block) which affected his endurance and aerobic capacity, without being a threat to his overall health.[1]

During the 2012 Trade Period, Toy requested for a trade back to his home state of Victoria. [2] After failing to arrange a trade deal, Toy was delisted by the Suns late in October, 2012. Despite training with Richmond and being interviewed by Essendon, the Western Bulldogs, North Melbourne and Hawthorn, Toy was not drafted in either the pre-season or rookie drafts. Toy is currently playing for Essendon's VFL team. [1] [3]
