Joshua T. Morrissey (born March 28, 1995) is a Canadian ice hockey defenceman. Drafted 6th overall in the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft by the Prince Albert Raiders,[1] he is currently playing with the Kelowna Rockets in the Western Hockey League (WHL). He was selected by the Winnipeg Jets in the 1st round (13th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
Morrissey is rated as a top prospect who fulfilled the expectation to be a first round selection at the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.[2] During the 2012-13 season he played with Team Canada to win gold medals at both the 2012 Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament[3] and the 2013 IIHF World U18 Championships.[4]
He was called up to the St. John's IceCaps during the 2014 Calder Cup playoffs, playing 8 games, including five in the Calder Cup finals.
On October 3, 2013, the Winnipeg Jets signed Morrissey to three-year two-way contract,[5] but he continued to play with the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League. He was traded to the Kelowna Rockets on December 10th, 2014.
