José Quirante Pineda (born 1 January 1884 in Alicante, Spain)[1] was a soccer player and manager. He coached Real Madrid during the first Spanish league season.
He played for FC Barcelona and Real Madrid. When playing for Real, he did not give up his attachment to Barcelona. He was the first footballer to play for the two rivals.[2]
He also coached Unión Sporting Club de Madrid, Sevilla FC,[3] Real Murcia, Hércules CF, Málaga CF, Cádiz CF and Real Betis.
