José Feliciano Loureiro Soares (born 23 February 1976 in Elvas) is a Portuguese retired footballer who played as a centre-back.

Career

A youth graduate of S.L. Benfica, José Soares spent the late nineties on loan, with F.C. Alverca on two occasions, playing 120 matches. In 1997 and 2000, he served as back-up in Benfica first team. After loans to Campomaiorense and Desportivo de Aves, he moved to various teams in France, Germany, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, India and Spain, ending his career in 2010, age 34.[1][2]

He represented Portugal in the 1995 FIFA U20, helping Portugal finishing in the third place, partnering with Beto.[3]
