Jordan Rapana (born 15 August 1989) is a Cook Island New Zealander professional rugby league footballer for the Canberra Raiders of the National Rugby League. He primarily plays wing, fullback and centre.
Background
Born in Wellington, New Zealand, Rapana moved to the Gold Coast, Queensland as a 10 year old and played his junior football for the Tugun Seahawks before being signed by the Gold Coast Titans. He attended Palm Beach Currumbin State High School.
Playing career
In 2008, Rapana played for the Gold Coast Titans' NYC team.[1]
In Round 18 of the 2008 NRL season, Rapana made his NRL debut for the Titans against the Sydney Roosters.[2]
At the end of 2008, Rapana was named on the interchange bench in the 2008 NYC Team of the Year and played for the New Zealand Māori rugby league team.
In 2009, Rapana left the NRL for a two-year Mormon mission.[3]
In June 2011, Rapana signed a contract with Super Rugby team, Western Force, starting in 2012.[4][5]
In 2013, Rapana moved to Canberra to play for the Queanbeyan Blues in the TTM Canberra Raiders Cup and also to train with the Brumbies in the hope of gaining a contract.[6][7]
At the end of 2013, Rapana played for the Cook Islands in the 2013 Rugby League World Cup.
On 24 June 2014, Rapana signed a 2-year contract with the Canberra Raiders effective immediately.[8]
On 7 August 2014, Rapana re-signed with the Raiders on a 1-year contract.[9]
In Round 22 of the 2014 NRL season, Rapana made his debut for the Raiders against the Parramatta Eels,[10] his first NRL game since 2008.
