Biography

Beginnings

Pruitt was born and raised in Loganville, Georgia. She went to school at Covenant Christian Academy.[3] She started writing songs at age nine.[4] In 2006, she recorded a demo album that was eventually discovered by producer Keith Thomas. Shortly after, Pruitt was signed to Hollywood Records.[1][4]

Career

In June 2006, Pruitt's debut single, "Outside Looking In" was released to promote the Disney Channel TV film Read It and Weep. Her debut studio album, No Ordinary Girl was released on February 6, 2007 and peaked at number sixty-four on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States.[5] On select dates, Pruitt toured as the opening act of The Cheetah Girls during their 2006 tour. She also took part on all tour dates of the High School Musical: The Concert, in 2006 and 2007. Pruitt was featured on the main theme song for the 2007 Disney film Jump In!, titled "Jump to the Rhythm." [6] In 2009, Pruitt also toured with Demi Lovato.

Pruitt's second studio album, Permission to Fly, was released on August 26, 2008. The album was essentially a commercial failure; both it and its singles failed to appear on any chart probably because the first release of the album was released only at Limited Too stores before finally being given a more expanded release one month after.

Pruitt's third studio album is set to be released in 2012. "Don't Lose Yourself", written by the Jonas Brothers is expected to be a track. Pruitt confirmed via Twitter that she has recorded two new songs "Collide" and "Best of Me". In the summer of 2010, Pruitt performed two new songs, "Hey Shy Boy" and "Who's To Say", during her performance for the Make-A-Wish Foundation charity at the Grove LA and in St. Louis, MO. Jordan also recorded the song "Take to the Sky" for the soundtrack of the film Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure. Her cover of "This Christmas" appears in the compilation album All Wrapped Up Vol. 2.

In February 2011, it was confirmed that Jordan was no longer under contract with Hollywood Records, but is signed to Jonas Records.[7] Pruitt premiered her song, "Shy Boy" on March 1, via Facebook and YouTube. It was later confirmed the version of "Shy Boy" released on March 1 was a demo version and it was only released for promotional use, however a real version of the song will be on her upcoming album. In April 2011, another new song was leaked called "What a Feeling". It is expected to be on her new album. On July 5, Jordan posted a preview of a new song, "Something's Gotta Give" on her YouTube account.

On September 18, Pruitt confirmed release of two songs in November 2011 available through the iTunes Store. The songs were "Somethings Gotta Give" and a new version of "Hey Shy Boy".

Pruitt released a cover of "All I Want for Christmas Is You" in December 2011. The official music video of the cover was released December 5, 2011 on YouTube and shows Jordan singing the song in a Christmas-themed studio.

On September 2, 2012, Pruitt announced on her official website and at the beginning of a video of her performing "My Love Is Like a Star" by Demi Lovato, that she will be offering 7 unreleased songs. A new song will be available for free download, each day, for over a span of a week. Songs will be accompanied by new video to go with the songs.[8] The songs released were "Run Away", "No Strings Attached", "D.M.F.O.", "Stay", "Stranger", "Stupid For You", and "Fingerprints".

In Oct 12, 2012 Pruitt made a YouTube video titled R.I.P Amanda Todd; she found out that Amanda Todd's last YouTube video was of her singing Jordan Pruitt's song "Outside Looking In". Pruitt went on to say she hopes people will fight to stop bullying and cyber-bullying she also went on to say that she said her thoughts and prayers are with Amanda Todd's family.

Following Pruitt's elimination from The Voice, she tweeted fans to say that she is taking on a new musical genre. "I am one happy girl.... And excited to tell you, I'm going country.... #newmusic #2013 #omgsh" - @jordansblog. Fans can expect new music in the first quarter 2013.

In May 2013 Pruitt announced via Twitter, that her first country EP will be released in 2013, and the first single will be released at the end of June.[9] Pruitt also announced that she will be going on tour the Summer of 2013.[10]

Christina Aguilera was the only one of the four coaches to turn around and Pruitt became part of Team Christina by default. Pruitt's battle competition against Adriana Louise was aired On October 23, 2012, in which the two singers took part in singing "Hot N Cold" by Katy Perry. Aguilera ruled Adriana the winner, eliminating Pruitt from the competition. Fellow coach Blake Shelton said he really liked Jordan's voice & wished he'd have saved his last steal for her.
