Jonathan Rodríguez Menéndez, commonly known as Jony (born 9 July 1991), is a Spanish footballer who plays for Sporting de Gijón as a left winger.

Club career

Born in Cangas del Narcea, Asturias, Jony finished his formation with FC Barcelona's youth setup, after a period with local Real Oviedo. He made his senior debuts with the latter's reserves in the 2010–11 campaign, in Tercera División.[1]

In June 2011 Jony moved to Club Marino de Luanco, in Segunda División B.[2] He remained in the category for the following seasons, representing Getafe CF B,[3] Real Avilés[4] and Sporting de Gijón B.[5]

Jony signed a two-year professional deal with the latter's first team on 7 May 2014, being definitely promoted.[6] Three days later he played his first match as a professional, starting and scoring the first in a 2–1 home success against Hércules CF.[7]
