Jonathan Daniel Álvez Sagar (born May 31, 1988 in Vichadero, Uruguay) is a Uruguayan footballer who plays for Primeira Liga side Vitória Guimarães on loan from Torque.

Career

Alvez came up from River Plate´s youth system, were he never played in the first team.

In mid 2008, he went to try luck in Boston River. On 29 November November 2008, he scored his first professional goal in a 1-0 home win against Rocha.

In September 2009, he joined a modest club called Coraceros, which played in the Uruguayan Segunda División Amateur. Alvez hade an outstandin campaign scoring 13 goals. Then he moved to Platense playing in the same division and scoring 9 goals.

In mid 2011, he signed with Torque and after a season achived the promotion to the Uruguayan Segunda División.

In early 2012, he travelled with Nicolás Milesi to Mexico to be tested by Deportivo Toluca F.C..[1] He reamined six months playing for the youth team.

After scoring 37 goals in the Segunda División Amateur, he moved on loan to Danubio, where his performances impressed.[2][3][4] He ended the season 15 league goals, as one of the most important players of Danubio.[5]

On August 2014, Álvez made his first move abroad, joining Vitória Guimarães in the Portuguese league.[6] He made his debut at 19 September 2014, scoring his first goal for Vitória, in one nill draw with Paços de Ferreira.[7]
