Jon Lawes

Jon Lawes MRAeS is a Motoring Author and Aviation Engineer, who lives in Dorset, UK.

Author of the motor sport reference book 'Competition Car Electrics' published by Haynes in 2006, his writing style has been described as "easy to understand" (according to a review on Amazon), whilst 'Competition Car Electrics' has been described as "Essential reading for anyone building a car for competition or track use".[1]

During his career he has been involved in various levels of motorsport, from supporting Ferrari in the Maranello Challenge, to competing in amateur level rallying. In parallel with his mainstream career he is currently acting as an electrical systems advisor for a number of teams in varying disciplines, from Rallying to D1 Drifting. His Company, Spearmint Technology,[2] carries out various roles in the automotive industry, including Contracted Motor Racing engineering support, Electrical support to Motorsport and Classic vehicles, media (incorporating TV appearances for The Discovery Channel and The GAMMA Project), magazine articles and book authorship.[3]

He is the Great Grandson of the noted English Banjo Composer Frank Lawes, and is currently restoring his recently discovered Berkeley T60, which was parked up on Franks death in 1970 and has remained unmoved until its recent rediscovery.

In August 2007 Jon and a team of motorsport enthusiasts appeared on ITVs "Pulling Power" in an article on drag racing. Other previous appearances of note include the Discovery Canada Magazine Show "Daily Planet".
