Jon Boden (born 1977) is a multi-instrumental musician and English folk singer. Boden is most notable for being the lead singer of the 11-piece folk band, Bellowhead.[1]
Career
Boden plays fiddle as part of the duo Spiers and Boden, the band Bellowhead and up until 2007, Eliza Carthy's band The Ratcatchers. In 2009 he toured with his new backing band The Remnant Kings. He has also written a number of theatre scores including two for the RSC. In February 2010, Boden was named Folk Singer of the Year at the BBC Folk Awards.[2] Including Bellowhead and Spiers and Boden awards, he has won more BBC Folk Awards than any other artist.
Boden's project A Folk Song A Day, which began on 24 June 2010, involved his releasing new versions of tradition folk songs every day for a year, an event that continued to completion until 24 June 2011. Monthly album releases documented the songs performed in any one month; 12 monthly albums were released.
Boden also sang a version of How Long Will I Love You for the film, About Time.[3]
Personal life
He was born in Chicago but grew up in Winchester, England, where he attended Henry Beaufort School and Peter Symonds College. He has degrees in Medieval Studies from Durham and Composition for Theatre from London College of Music.[4]
Boden and his partner, folk singer Fay Hield, have a daughter, born 2006, and a son, born 2009.

- Jon Boden created 12 CDs in one year, one album for each month. He recorded a different folk song every day for a year and made them into these 12 albums. He called this project A Folk Song A Day.
