John Lyons (born 14 September 1943) is an English stage and screen actor. He is probably most famous for appearing as Detective Sergeant George Toolan in the long-running UK detective drama, A Touch of Frost (1992–2010) alongside David Jason.[1] He also appeared as George's brother Charlie in one episode of George & Mildred, and in On the buses (Season 7, Ep. 7 and 11) as a bus driver. John also had a prominent role playing Detective Sgt Jim Huke in a 1976 episode of The Sweeney called "Bad Apple". John joined fans of The Sweeney in 2011 when he attended a Sweeney Meet event in Hammersmith, London - an event held twice yearly.
Lyons has had a long and successful career in Television, and has also had numerous roles in feature films, including "Action Jackson" and "The Blues Brothers". In September 2005, Lyons joined the cast of the world's longest-running play, The Mousetrap, in London's West End.
