John Henderson Lamb was the first head football coach for Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas and he held that position for the 1900 season. His overall coaching record at ESU was 5 wins, 3 losses, and 1 ties. This ranks him 17th at ESU in terms of total wins and second at ESU in terms of winning percentage.[1]

Emporia State's football team began in 1893 but played without an official head coach for the first seven seasons until 1899. He married Martha Rannek in Jacksonville, Illinois on May 15, 1902.[2] He died in Oklahoma in 1955. He had worked as a clergyman in the Presbyterian church since leaving Kansas State Normal College.[3][4][5]
