The John Greenleaf Whittier Bridge, often referred to as the Whittier Memorial Bridge, is a Steel Connected Dual-Span Truss arch bridge that carries Interstate 95 over the Merrimack River between Newburyport and Amesbury, Massachusetts.[1] The bridge crosses less than 1/2 mile upstream of the historic Merrimack River suspension bridge, the Chain Bridge. The bridge is named for one of America's most famous poets, John Greenleaf Whittier.
