John Florea

John "Johnny" Florea (born in Alliance, Ohio on May 28, 1916 ; died in Las Vegas on August 25, 2000) was a television director and a photographer.[1]

Career

He initially became known as a photographer for Life (magazine). He did pictures of actresses, such as Jane Russell, but World War II led to his doing notable work photographing soldiers in the war.[2] A picture of his of an emaciated American POW was widely ran throughout the US.[3] In television he was known for directing episodes of Sea Hunt, The Virginian[4] CHiPs,[5] and others. He also did some film directing such as the paranormal thriller Invisible Strangler.[6]

Personal life

From 1955 to 1958 he was married to actress Marjie Millar.[7] He also had a turbulent marriage to a woman named Shirley who sued him for violating her privacy and allegedly stabbed him.[8][9] His last marriage was to Ruth Johnson and ended with his death.
