John Davies (priest)

The Very Rev John Harverd Davies[1] has been Dean of Derby since 2010.[2]

He was born in Bolton on 29 November 1957; educated at Brentwood School, Keble College, Oxford and Westcott House, Cambridge; and ordained in 1985.[3] After curacies at Our Lady and St Nicholas with St Anne, Liverpool and St John the Baptist, Peterborough he was Vicar of St Margaret, Anfield then Chaplain, Fellow and Lecturer at his old college. He was Vicar of St Michael, Melbourne from 1999 until his appointment as Dean.[4]

In 2012 Dr Davies undertook a sponsored abseil from the tower of Derby Cathedral in order to raise funds, both for the Cathedral and for the Padley Centre, a local charity providing help and support to the homeless and other socially disadvantaged people. [5] [6]
