John Curro

John Ronald Curro AM MBE (born 6 December 1932) is an Australian-based violist, conductor, and music director.

He is the founder (1966) and Director of Music of the Queensland Youth Orchestras, with whom he established the National Youth Concerto Competition (NYCC).[1]

Honours

John Curro was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 1981,[2] and a Member of the Order of Australia in 1995.[3]

He was awarded the Centenary Medal in 2001.[4]

He was awarded the Sir Bernard Heinze Memorial Award in 2001[5][6] and the Don Banks Music Award in 2002.
