John Bowler Fitzgibbons is an American businessman and philanthropist. Mr. Fitzgibbons has been an active participant in global energy markets since the early 1990s.[1] Companies that he founded currently employ over 20,000 people across more than twenty developed and emerging markets. His philanthropic interests have focused on research in education and healthcare, where he provides leadership to impactful non-profit US institutions.

Education

John Fitzgibbons attended Milton Academy and Phillips Exeter Academy before graduating cum laude with a B.A. in Government from Harvard University.[2]

Career

Mr. Fitzgibbons founded and is Chairman and CEO of Basin Holdings, a diversified, industrial holding company focused on oilfield services, equipment manufacturing and supply chain management. Operating through three main operating subsidiaries Basin Energy Services, Basin Tools, and Basin Supply. Basin Holdings has over 500 employees and is present in most major developed and emerging markets.[3] Through J Fitzgibbons LLC, a New York-based family office, Mr. Fitzgibbons makes direct and actively managed investments across multiple industries and asset classes, including energy, security, real estate and agriculture.[4] Mr. Fitzgibbons is also a Founder and Chairman of the following four companies:

Mr. Fitzgibbons is also a Co-Founder & Director of Deerpath Capital, a New York-based investment fund providing loans to small and mid-sized US companies.[12][13]

Philanthropy

Mr. Fitzgibbons is Chairman of The SUNY Research Foundation, a non-profit affiliate of the State University of New York that administers an annual research budget in excess of $1 billion from federal, state and private sources.[10] He is a Co-Chairman of the Cancer Research Institute, a non-profit organization dedicated to the global development of new immune system-based cancer treatments.[14] He is also both a Trustee of Milton Academy and Chairman of its Investment Committee.[15] Mr. Fitzgibbons is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.[16]
