John Arundell, 2nd Baron Arundell of Trerice (1649 - 21 June 1698) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons at various times between 1666 and 1687 when he inherited his peerage.

Trerice, the seat of the Arundell family.

Arundell was the son of Richard Arundell, 1st Baron Arundell of Trerice and his wife Gertrude Slanning, widow of Sir Nicholas Slanning and daughter of Sir James Bagge, of Saltram, Devon. He was baptised on 1 September 1649.[1]

In 1666, Arundell was elected Member of Parliament for Truro in the Cavalier Parliament and sat until 1679.[2] He was re-elected a member of parliament for Truro in 1685 and sat until 1687 when he inherited the title Baron Arundell of Trerice on the death of his father.

Arundell married firstly Margaret Acland daughter of Sir John Acland, of Columb John, Devon, and his wife Margaret Rolle. Historians have confused this Margaret Arundell with Mary Arundell (courtier).[3] Margaret died in 1691 and he married secondly Barbara Mauleverer, widow of Sir Richard Mauleverer, 4th Baronet, of Allerton Mauleverer, Yorkshire and daughter of Sir Thomas Slingsby, 2nd Baronet, of Scriven, Yorkshire. He was succeeded in the barony by the son of his first wife, John. His son Nicholas Arundell was also a member of parliament.[1]
