John Allen (priest)

The Very. Rev John Edward Allen, MA was an eminent Anglican priest in the latter part of the 20th century.[1] He was born into an ecclesiastical family [2] on 9 June 1932 and educated at Rugby and University College, Oxford.[3] He was in the Colonial Service in Kenya from 1957 to 1963; and then in Sales and Marketing with Kimberly-Clark until 1966. Ordained in 1968 [4] he was initially a Curate at Deal and then Vicar of St Paul’s, Clifton. He was then the incumbent at Chippenham until 1982 when he became Provost of Wakefield, a post he held until 1997.
