Johan Wiland (born 24 January 1981 in Borås) is a Swedish footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Danish Superliga club F.C. Copenhagen.

Club career

Wiland started playing first team football as a 16-year old in lower league Rydboholms SK, and was brought to IF Elfsborg in 1997. He made his debut for Elfsborg in an away game against Halmstad BK on 4 May 2000, and was denied the clean sheet from a 91st minute penalty kick. The club's best season came in 2006 when they won the 2006 Allsvenskan. During that season Wiland started in all 26 matches, conceded 19 goals (least in the league) and kept 12 clean sheets.[1]

He signed for F.C. Copenhagen in 2009, where he has been first-choice goalkeeper since. He currently shares the captaincy at Copenhagen with three other players. Wiland's European reputation grew in 2010/11 winning the Goalkeeper of the Year in Denmark and being named in the 2010–11 UEFA Champions League"Team of the week".[2] He produced another fine season in 2011/12, recording the second most clean sheets in the 2011–12 Danish Superliga.[3] The 2011/12 season brought Wiland his first F.C. Copenhagen Player of the Year. In the 2012-13 UEFA Champions League third qualifying round against Lille OSC, Wiland saved a penalty and made many classy saves in a fine display. Copenhagen won the match 1–0.[4] Wiland's finest moment came in 2013. Whilst representing Sweden in and international friendly match against Colombia, Wiland produced a record breaking display, saving 36 shots in a 2 - 2 draw with Colombia, and subsequntly saving 2 penalties as Sweden won the game on a penalty shoot-out.

International career

His debut in the Swedish national team came on a tour in South America in January 2007. He represented his country at the UEFA Euro 2008 in Austria and Switzerland.[5]

He was also called up to the Swedish side for the UEFA Euro 2012 by Erik Hamrén. He acted as back up to Andreas Isaksson.
