Joanne Bernard is a Canadian politician, who was elected to the Nova Scotia House of Assembly in the 2013 provincial election. A member of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party, she represents the electoral district of Dartmouth North.[1]
On October 22, 2013 Bernard was appointed to the Executive Council of Nova Scotia where she serves as Minister of Community Services as well as Minister responsible for the Disabled Persons Commission Act.[2]
An out lesbian,[3] she is the first LGBT person elected to the provincial legislature in Nova Scotia.[4]
