Joanne Andraca (born July 10, 1988 in Hyères) is a French swimmer, who specialized in individual medley events.[2] She is also the daughter of two-time Olympic swimmers Pierre Andraca and Annick de Susini (her personal coach).[3][1]
Andraca qualified for the women's 400 m individual medley at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing, by breaking a French record, clearing a FINA A-cut, and matching her time of 4:38.23 with Camille Muffat from the Olympic trials in Dunkirk.[4] She challenged seven other swimmers on the fifth and final heat, including top medal favorites Katinka Hosszú of Hungary, Hannah Miley of Great Britain, and Katie Hoff of the United States. Andraca rounded out the field to last place by nearly two seconds behind South Africa's Jessica Pengelly in 4:43.88. Andraca failed to advance into the final, as she placed twenty-third overall on the first day of preliminary heats.[5]
