Joanna Gruesome are a five piece noise pop band from Cardiff, Wales.
History
Joanna Gruesome were formed in 2010 in Cardiff at the suggestion of an anger management class.[1] Their debut album received praise from Pitchfork,[1] This is fake DIY and Rough Trade.[2] Joanna Gruesome are known for their energetic live shows,[3] as well as their forthright feminist and anti-homophobic views.[2]
On 28th November 2014, the band won the 2014 Welsh Music Prize with their debut album Weird Sister.[4] They will release their sophomore effort, Peanut Butter, on May 11th in the UK via Fortuna Pop!, and on June 2nd in the US via Slumberland Records.[5]
