Joan Àngel Román Ollè (born 18 May 1993) is a Spanish footballer who plays for FC Barcelona B as a left winger.
Club career
Born in Reus, Tarragona, Catalonia, Román began his career in UE Barri Santes Creus in 2005, and moved to RCD Espanyol in the following year.[1] On 29 August 2009 he signed for Manchester City, being assigned to the club's Academy side.[2]
Román appeared mainly for City's reserve side, being an ever-present figure in the club's NextGen Series campaign. On 15 March 2012 he was called up by the main squad, featuring as an unused substitute in a 3–2 home win against Sporting Clube de Portugal for the season's UEFA Europa League.[3]
On 27 June 2012, Román signed a three-year deal with FC Barcelona B.[4] He made his professional debut on 8 September 2012, replacing Sergio Araújo in the 66th minute of a 1–0 away win against CD Guadalajara for the Segunda División championship.[5]
Román scored his first professional goal on 13 October, netting the last of a 3–0 home success over Sporting de Gijón.[6] He was mainly used as a substitute during his first campaign, only being a regular starter in his second.
On 31 January 2014, Román signed for La Liga club Villarreal CF on loan until the end of the season.[7] He made his debut in the competition on 8 February, playing the last 27 minutes of a 2–4 away loss against Real Madrid.[8]
