James Ernest Vatcher is a former professional baseball outfielder. He played all or part of three seasons in Major League Baseball, from 1990 until 1992, for the Philadelphia Phillies, Atlanta Braves, and San Diego Padres. After his major league career, Vatcher played professionally for several more years, including stints in the Taiwan Major League and Serie A1 in Italy.
Vatcher was originally drafted by the Phillies in the 20th round of the 1987 Major League Baseball Draft. After making his major league debut on May 30, 1990, he was sent to the Braves on August 9 as the player to be named later in the trade that had brought Dale Murphy to the Phillies.
