Jim Symon

Jim Symon is a Scottish broadcaster and voice-over artist who presents for STV and the Scottish radio network of AM stations owned and operated by Bauer Radio.

Born and raised in Glasgow, Symon began his career at Radio Clyde in 1981 as a relief presenter for the Drivetime programme Clydewide Tonight.[1] Afterwards, he continued to present various programmes for the station.

By 1983, Symon had joined Scottish Television (now STV Central) as a continuity announcer and newsreader. During this time, he voiced many nationwide TV advertisements in the UK and was also chosen as the voice for a talking version of an Action Man toy.[2]

Symon continued announcing on a freelance basis when he became a Presentation Director for Scottish TV in 1988. He also announced and directed transmission for Grampian Television. He left Scottish Television in 2003 but rejoined seven years later as an out-of-vision presenter for STV's regional overnight strand The Nightshift.

After a stint presenting on West Sound Radio in Ayr, Symon joined Clyde 2, the AM station of Radio Clyde. He now presents the weekday late show on Clyde 2, Northsound 2, Forth 2, Tay AM and West Sound (Ayrshire) on Sunday - Friday nights between 10pm and 1am as well as Country Countdown on Saturday evenings on West Sound (Dumfries and Galloway).
